Master Electricians

Department: Production

Reports to: Production Manager

Position Classification: Hourly

Position Summary: Prepares lighting for events and operates lighting console during performances.

Responsibilities: Hang and focus lighting instruments per plot, connect cables, program and operate lighting console (ETC), repair lighting fixtures, design simple lighting for events, report to production manager and/or stage manager, keep electrics organized and clean, help other departments on call when needed.

Qualifications: Familiar with ETC lighting consoles, dimmers, and Altman lighting instruments; able to read light plots, instrument schedules, and channel hookups, etc.; be able to perform quick troubleshooting, be able to work independently, lift heavy equipment, and work well under pressure. Previous experience a must.

The Center for the Arts maintains a roster of stagehands, master electricians, audio engineers, riggers, loaders, and other theatrical professionals from which to draw stage crews on an as-needed basis. The CFA is a non-union house.
